Share Your Story - Breastfeeding in CT

Your breastfeeding story can help other families!

It doesn’t matter how long your baby breastfed, every breastfeeding story is valuable!

You can send us a video, photos or written stories. Your story can tell other families what breastfeeding means, or has meant, to you and your baby.

Other parents want to hear how having a plan helps you be ready for bumps in the road. Even though it can be hard, It's Worth It! Every story can make a difference to another family. We are in this together and there is a community in CT of families who can encourage each other.

We want to hear from everyone who has a breastfeeding story:  All parents (moms, dads, and those who identify as either or more), grandparents, health providers, clinical professionals, employers and policy makers.

Tips for Video Submissions
  • Be yourself! Think about what helped you prepare for breastfeeding (classes, family advice, etc.), your hospital experience, obstacles you overcame, the influence of support, or a particular breastfeeding story that you will never forget.
  • Avoid wearing clothing that shows brand names/logos or characters.
  • Choose a well-lit area without distractions such as wind, background music, t.v., people walking by.
  • Speak clearly, no need to rush.
  • You are the expert, tell other moms what to expect and why breastfeeding is worth it.
  • Ideal videos will be 30 seconds to 2 minutes long
  • Tripods or webcams are great for proving a steady image.
  • When you are finished speaking, please say, "It's Worth It".

Tips for Photo Submissions
  • Photos that include multiple people may be hard to crop out unless they consent to their image being used
  • Natural is awesome. Motherhood is messy, don't shy away because you are not wearing make up or your hair is not perfect.
  • High resolution shots are necessary. If sending in from your phone, choose actual size photo files not S/M/L.
