TAYLOR SMITH, CLC, DOULA
Taylor comes from a background of serving others; before becoming an Interdisciplinary Doula, her roles all involved taking care of others. Her own birth experiences allowed her to answer the call to Birth Work. Taylor prides herself on her dedication to those she works with and genuinely loves to see families and their babies thriving. Taylor has strong interests in science, nutrition, herbal remedies and lactation. As a current Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), she has added to her personal knowledge of breastfeeding and is extremely passionate about helping women through their breastfeeding and pregnancy journey. Taylor also served as a Peer Counselor with WIC; while supporting mothers and babies in her capacity there, she honed her counseling skills to ensure mothers have culturally competent emotional support alongside the physical. Taylor is currently a participant in Paving the Way: Diversity in Lactation, which is a mentorship program that aims to increase BIPOC numbers in lactation by guiding Women of Color to obtain their International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) credential and will be sitting for the exam this fall! As the founder and Owner of Nourish Our Seeds, Taylor’s goal is to provide urban communities with culturally competent, thorough and dignifying perinatal care. Taylor currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC) and strives to improve breastfeeding outcomes for families throughout the state.
