KATHLEEN MASON MA, RN, IBCLC
Kathy has been a nurse for over 45 years. She first became involved in maternity services in 1982 and was Nurse Manager of the Post Partum, Labor + Delivery Unit and the NICU, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, CT. for 14 years.
As an IBCLC for over 20 years she was responsible for the development of the Lactation Consultant role at her hospital. She was instrumental in her hospital obtaining Baby Friendly Designation in 2013, and Re-designation in 2018. Kathy retired from L+M Hospital after 43 years, and is currently teaching Maternal Child Health Part time for nursing students.
Kathy has been involved with the CBC for many years including the role of Secretary for 10 years and is currently Chair of the Connecticut 10 Step Collaborative and the Health Care Committee, helping other hospitals work towards Baby Friendly Designation.
Kathy is an avid runner having completed 11 marathons, and plays flute in two community bands. She has 3 grown daughters, and 3 grandchildren. Everyone was breastfed.
