Board Of Director Application!

The Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC) is pleased to announce our 2023 call for Board Member Nominations/Applications.

As an all-volunteer organization our Board members are responsible for the governance of the organization as well as follow-through on coalition activities. CBC Board members are passionate about our mission and bring a variety of different life experiences and roles to our work. Our coalition would benefit from new Board members who identify as Black, Indigenous or Person of Color (BIPOC) and any identities that have been marginalized in the breastfeeding field including but not limited to LGBTQIA and gender non-conforming, differently abled, neuro-diverse persons and men.

The Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC) is seeking nominees/applicants to serve on our Board of Directors (BOD), terms begin June 1, 2023, you can opt for a 1 or 2 year term.

As outlined in 2011 Surgeon General’s Call to Action (SGCTA) for Breastfeeding, the CBC’s aim is to advocate for access to comprehensive, current, and culturally appropriate lactation care and service for all women, children, and families.
To ensure that human milk feeding is recognized as the normal and preferred method of feeding infants and young children.
  • To ensure that all Federal, State, and local laws relating to child welfare and family law recognize and support the importance and practice of breastfeeding.
  • To increase protection, promotion, and support for breastfeeding mothers/parents in the workforce.
Our coalition (CBC) is organized around the six sectors identified in the SGCTA: Mothers & Families, Communities, Healthcare, Employment, Public Health, and Research. Each Sector has a committee that is responsible for implementing actions in response to the SGCTA sectors.

Timeline and Process:
  • Nominations are being accepted until midnight on Sunday March 5, 2023.
