Susan earned a Master of Science in Public Health Nutrition at Teachers College, Columbia University. She worked as a local WIC Nutritionist for 3 years at the Norwalk Health Department, then as a WIC Nutrition Consultant at the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

She was appointed State WIC Nutrition and Breastfeeding Coordinator in 1985, and served as DPH Breastfeeding Coordinator from 2005-2009. She assisted with the Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition’s successful application for federal funding to support CBC’s The Business Case for Breastfeeding project and is currently serving as co-director of the Connecticut Breastfeeding Initiative for CBC.
