Michele earned her BS in Nursing from Salve Regina University and has been a registered nurse for more than 20 years. She is an international board certified lactation consultant since 2001 and holds a Master of Public Health degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Michele was a founding member of the CBC; the first elected Chairperson in 2003 and is the current Chairperson. She has served on the board of directors, the conference committee and twice represented CBC to the USBC’s National Meeting of State and Tribal Coalitions. She has a clinical faculty position (courtesy) at the Yale School of Nursing and her clinical work includes providing routine, lactation services in the pediatric primary care setting. Michele has served on the ILCA’s International Lactation Education Accreditation Council and ILCA’s Accreditation Task Force that led to the creation of AARC, which establishes the highest standards for education within the field of breastfeeding and human lactation. Michele is currently co-director of the Connecticut Breastfeeding Initiative (CBI) for the coalition.
